Sea Fishing

You can have a go at sea fishing from various points along the beach at Ferryside. However, care needs to be taken with the tides, which can come in fast and furious. You can also charter boats to go fishing in Tenby. There are a number of boats offering varied fishing opportunities, from 90-minute mackerel fishing to 4-hour shark fishing and more in between. Providers include Tenby Sea Fishing and Mackerel Fishing.

Coarse Fishing Lakes

Marsh Water Ponds, Coastal Road, Kidwelly, looks directly over the Carmarthen Bay Estuary. The fishing lake covers over an acre and is easily accessible from the car park. Marsh Water Ponds also offers a great day out for all the family to enjoy splendid nature walks and petting animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, piglets, dogs, chickens and ducks.

Spring Water Lakes, Harford, Llanwrda, Carmarthenshire SA19 8DT, comprises three acres with depths of 3–8 feet, with a good mix of Crusian, Mirror and Common Carp, large Tench and Bream, Roach, Rudd, Golden Orfe and Perch. They also have a three-acre Specimen Fishing Lake.

River Fishing

There are a number of local angling associations that you can contact regarding day tickets for fishing on stretches of the River Towy, including Abercothi Fishery and Carmarthen and District Angling Club.

Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon Fishing Still Waters

Gwenllian Fishery, a small pool near Kidwelly, offers trout fishing.

Garnffrwd Fishery (SA15 5BB) offers a five-acre lake with Brown and Rainbow Trout. Here, there is a lakeside café, and you can book fly fishing tuition with Hwyel Morgan through their website.

Llanllawdog Fishery Home Farm (SA32 7JE) offers fly-only fishing on two lakes. Car parking and picnic areas have disabled access.

Spring Water Lakes offers fly fishing only; they are well stocked, with quality hard-fighting Brown and Rainbow Trout up to 8 lbs. There is a bait and tackle shop on site.
