Ffos Las Racecourse

Ffos Las Racecourse has been bringing top-class racing to Wales since 2009. Situated between Llanelli and Carmarthen and about 8 miles from Ferryside, Ffos Las hosts at least 20 racing fixtures a year and doubles as an outdoor music venue. Oakwood Theme Park

Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo

Voted Wales’ best day out for several years running, Folly Farm is a fun day out for the whole family. You can visit over 750 animals, including tigers, giraffes and zebras. There is also a petting zoo and a vintage fun fair. There are plenty of play areas, a soft play area and seating, together with a restaurant, gift shop and free car park.

Blue Lagoon Water Park

SA67 8DE, A40 at Caneston Bridge

An indoor, subtropically heated water park, with water slides, flumes and a wave machine. The warm waters and gently sloping beach, lazy river and outdoor steaming hot tub will keep aqua-lovers entertained for hours. The south-facing patio with sun loungers is the perfect place to relax on a hot day.

There is a poolside snack bar and swim shop and plenty of free parking.

Manor Wildlife Park

SA70 8RJ, off the A477 St Florence

This 52-acre wildlife park was made famous by its previous owner, Anna Ryder Richardson, and was featured in a television series presented by her. With a large variety of animals, whether you love lemurs or have a passion for tigers, this place is sure to delight. Food is available to purchase to feed some of the animals.

On site is the Manor House café and shop.

The park is wheelchair accessible but steep in some areas. Sorry, no dogs allowed.

Pembrey Country Park and Beach

SA16 0EJ, Pembrey, Llanelli

This park is set among 500 acres of parkland and 6 miles of award-winning Cefn Sidan beaches. There are said to be 300 shipwrecks beneath the sands of these beaches, some of which can be seen at low tide.

The park itself has plenty of activities to offer, including a dry ski slope and ski shop, toboggan ride, crazy golf, bicycle and tricycle hire, and pony riding. There is a child’s play park and designated BBQ areas. There are also nature trails, details of which can be acquired from the visitor centre. There is a miniature railway run by enthusiasts; opening times vary for this.

There is a newly refurbished restaurant and plenty of toilets. The park has excellent wheelchair facilities and has one dog-friendly beach.

The Four Falls Trail

CF44 9JF, Gwaun Hepste

This spectacular Four Falls walk is approximately 4 miles long, starting at the Cwm Porth car park at the River Mellte. Be sure you visit the cave before you set off.

The walk itself, which is equally stunning whether raining or sunny, takes in some beautiful views of the Brecon Beacons National Park on a partial loop. The waterfalls are Sgwd Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd Isaf Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd y Pannwr and, definitely saving the most awesome until last, Swgd yr Eira. Those brave enough can walk behind the cascades (slippery).

Not suitable for wheelchairs. Dogs welcome.
