We often hear it said that looks can be deceptive and what really matters is what’s on the inside. So, as you arrive at Sleep@Calonyfferi, bear this in mind and try not to make a snap judgement by your first impressions of the unusual buildings and outside area. Looking beyond, you will discover beautifully decorated rooms with comfy beds, fully accessible bathrooms and thoughtful touches. These weary travellers, were privileged to be the first to stay at this newly listed hotel, in a family room which had everything we needed to make our visit a comfortable one, including a continental breakfast, although we opted for vegetarian cooked breakfast, which was done to perfection.
As we relaxed after our travels, we made use of our own delightful enclosed patio and explored our surroundings, which include a post office, café and art gallery. There was a lively atmosphere with people enjoying the garden, spending time in the café and a few more unexpected delights on our doorsteps. There is an enchanting wildflower and vegetable garden and the day we stayed, a small local market to peruse in the morning. There is also the Greenspace art gallery to tempt you to buy local artwork. On the evening of our stay, we enjoyed a delicious meal in the award winning restaurant, where staff were kind and exceptional in their service.
You can escape and relax, at Sleep@Calonyfferi, in a location which is just a stone’s throw away from the charming estuary and village of Ferryside in Carmarthenshire. This unique and special place has repurposed a redundant county council building into a community asset, through the vision, love and devotion of the community which it serves. Sleep@Calonyfferi is somewhere with a warm welcome and true heart, which we hope to return to.
